Profile Of Joy Craddock - MCIPD
My career started in banking with the Barclays Group in 1974. However, I discovered that Human Resources was far more exciting and switched functions becoming an HR Manager, Project Manager and Internal HR Consultant within the bank. I then successfully led the HR department of Skandia Life through a period of rapid growth. In 2002 I decided I had had enough of large corporate life and started JCV Consulting and as they say 'never looked back'.
It is always difficult for me to explain the full extent of my expertise and passion for HR work. Having worked in HR for 27 years my experience is extensive in:
- Absence and long term sickness
- Coaching
- Competencie Frameworks
- Complex employee relations issues
- Disciplinary and Grievances
- Diversity
- Employee Communications
- Employment law
- HR Strategy and Visioning
- Job evaluation
- Performance Management
- Policies and Procedures
- Project Management
- Recruitment and Selection
- Redundancy and outplacement
- Management Development
Throughout my career, I have handled the majority of ‘sticky' and sensitive situations employers face. Nothing, an employee or an employer may do shocks me. I will handle it delicately, in an unbiased and professional manner. The cases I deal with often push the boundaries of employment to the limit. That's not a problem as I use the best employment lawyers in the South and they love to push those boundaries in a no nonsense cost effective way.
My clients often come to me initially because they have a troublesome employee and I have been recommended to them. I am renowned as a trouble shooter. Then we start to talk and my experience in large and small businesses, change projects, strategy and vision setting, people behaviour and Neuro Linguist Programming, pay and communications and all the other normal HR activities starts to flood through.
I am often asked what's unique about me compared to other HR Consultants. Well, it is me - my personality, qualifications and experience and the ‘magic' of how I blend all that together to solve your problem. At the end of the day it is the relationship between the HR consultant and the client that counts. I am honoured that I have long standing working relationships with my clients and they trust me with their companies and their very confidential information.
I specialise in providing practical advice and support to all sizes of enterprise on contractual issues, the ongoing employment of staff, recruitment and selection, performance management, change, coaching, organisation design and general business matters. My personalised service is based on the client's needs. My clients are diverse. The range includes care homes, charities, construction, education, engineering, the motor trade, adult training providers, financial services, retail, hospitality, leisure, transport and manufacturing.
Examples of major issues I have handled with clients are; sex discrimination equal pay claim, disability issues and discrimination claims, harassment and bullying investigations, fraud, mediation between employees, TUPE, redundancy, recruitment of staff, job ranking, pay structures, coaching managers and directors, change management, contracts of employment and staff handbooks, HR policies and procedures and HR strategy.
